Hi, I’m Pete Borkowski. I’m a sports journalist currently seeking employment.
Sports have been my passion my entire life and I love nothing more than reporting on them. I am a writer, photographer, editor and on-camera analyst. My sports writing career started with a blog as a hobby when I was 20 and quickly evolved into my choice of career. I am a hard worker and a team player. I work well under pressure and am very thorough, never resting until the job is done.
I am capable of writing/reporting on any sport. My primary sports are tennis and hockey, but I have experience writing on all four major North American sports, as well as soccer and various Olympic sports.
My past work experience has landed me in the press box at a number of different sporting events. I’ve traveled as far as London, England and Basel, Switzerland to cover sporting events and I am always extremely professional in my work. I have interacted with some of the world’s best athletes, including tennis Grand Slam champions Roger Federer, Serena Williams, and Rafael Nadal among others, as well as Olympic and Paralympic medalists Aurelie Rivard, Penny Oleksiak and Emily Overholt.
I have experience writing various types of articles from short breaking news to game-overs to longer features. I am a detail-oriented writer very comfortable writing under pressure and meeting deadlines.
I have photography experience going all the way back to high school. I am comfortable with Photoshop and love taking pictures of sporting events.
I am very familiar and comfortable with Canadian Press style. I have years of experience editing through my time as an editor with an online journal and as a high school teacher.
I am fluent in French and am capable of producing content in French. I started French immersion when I was four years old, majored in French in university, and lived in Nantes, France for a year.
